Hi, I'm Chelsea!
Wife to Chris. Mom to Apollo.
Passionate about helping women have empowered birth experiences.

"If you don't know your options, you don't have any." -Diana Korte

My journey to becoming a doula and childbirth educator started way back when I was four years old. That's when I knew I wanted to be a momma.

When I became pregnant in early 2017, I began earnestly learning about pregnancy and birth. I began making choices for my labor and birth. It's when it really clicked for me how important it is that I get to choose. I get to make the decisions for my baby and my body. I get to labor how and where I want. I get to welcome my baby into this world how I want to. For me, the desire for true freedom of movement, positioning, comfortable environment, and access to hydrotherapy led me to choose a home birth with a midwife.

I knew that I needed to mentally prepare for my birth if I was going to be out of reach of any medial pain relief. The ability to cope with the intensity of labor was mine and my husband's responsibility. I knew I needed to know what was going to happen physically, mentally, and emotionally during each stage of labor. So, Chris and I took a Bradley Method course.

I also knew that I could use as much physical and emotional support as possible. Labor could last for a while, and Chris probably needed bathroom breaks and chances to eat! So, we hired a doula to support us (Keyword, us. Not just me!).

Flash forward to baby Apollo's BIRTHday. My labor never followed the normal pattern, and it went swiftly. After four hours of active labor and fifteen minutes of pushing, Apollo was born into his daddy's hands because our midwifery team didn't even make it in time (did I mention how it didn't follow the normal pattern...).

And you know what... I've never felt so peaceful. So sure. So at ease. So prepared.

We studied what we needed to study. I took my midwife's suggestions of chiropractic care and nutrition. I connected with other mommas. I prepared my heart and my mindset. I got ready for he unexpected. I had the informational, physical, and emotional support I needed.

Now, I have a fire under my bum to help other women have a similar experience. Not the specifics of my birth, but rather the way I FELT about my birth. Respected. Supported. Empowered.
